Union Grove scored eight runs in the second on its way to a 14-2 victory over Fayette County on Thursday. UGHS Varsity big bats were led by Hunter Martin, Chance Johnson, Joey Pourron, Beau Brand, Peyton Sower, and Caleb Grant, all driving in runs in the frame.
Andrew Smith was the winning pitcher for Union Grove. He went three innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out eight and walking zero. Ben Norton threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Jonathan Hall-Thompson took the loss for Fayette County. He went three innings, allowing 11 runs on nine hits and striking out one.
The wolverines collected 11 hits. Ty Kaufman, Grant, Martin, and Sower all collected multiple hits. Sower, Martin, Grant, and Kaufman each managed two hits.
