Union Grove lost the lead late in a 4-3 defeat to South Paulding on Monday. The game was tied at three with South Paulding batting in the bottom of the sixth when Cody Rymer singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.
The wolverines fired up the offense in the first inning. Peyton Sower grounded out into a double play, scoring one run.
Tyler Clayton was the winning pitcher for South Paulding. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over one inning, striking out three and walking zero. Devon Callinan and Will Antunez entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Ben Norton took the loss for Union Grove. He allowed two hits and three runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking one.
Carson Huber led Union Grove with two hits in four at bats.
Bret Adkins went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead South Paulding in hits.
