Wolverines Varsity Can’t Catch Up To Locust Grove
Wolverines Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 8-2 loss to Locust Grove on Wednesday. Locust Grove scored on a single by Gavin Lee, a double by Nolan Crisp, a home run by Austin Moody, and a single by C.J. Upchurch in the first inning.
The Wolverines Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Locust Grove, giving up eight runs.
Locust Grove got things started in the first inning when Lee singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Lee was credited with the victory for Locust Grove. He lasted three and a third innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out four. Cole English and Joe Raden entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Brody Couch took the loss for Wolverines Varsity. He surrendered five runs on six hits over two-thirds of an inning, walking one.
Caleb Grant, Kyle Ayers, Jalen Jones, and Ty Kaufman all had one hit to lead Wolverines Varsity. Wolverines Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Couch had six chances in the field, the most on the team.
Locust Grove tallied 15 hits on the day. Lee, Crisp, Upchurch, and Moody all managed multiple hits for Locust Grove. Lee led Locust Grove with three hits in three at bats.
