Wolverines Varsity Stays Scrappy In Loss To Jones County
Wolverines Varsity fought back after falling down by five runs in the sixth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 7-5 defeat to Jones County on Thursday. Wolverines Varsity scored five runs in the failed comeback on a single by Jake Beach in the sixth, a double by Haydon Moss in the sixth, and a home run by Beach in the seventh.
Wolverines Varsity was right in it until Jones County singled in the tenth inning.
In the first inning, Jones County got their offense started when Teldrick Ross doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Wolverines Varsity tied things up at five when Beach homered on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
Wolverines Varsity notched three runs in the sixth inning. Beach and Moss each drove in runs during the inning.
Hunter Pierce led the Jones County to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over three innings, walking zero.
Brody Couch took the loss for Wolverines Varsity. He surrendered three runs on nine hits over five and a third innings, striking out three.
Joey Pourron started the game for Wolverines Varsity. He went two and a third innings, allowing four runs on two hits and striking out four. Colby Gordon started the game for Jones County. He lasted seven innings, allowing ten hits and five runs while striking out two and walking one.
