Wolverines Varsity Overcomes Jones County In Face Of Early 4-Run Inning
Even though the Wolverines gave up four runs in the second inning, they still defeated Jones County 10-4 on Tuesday. The big inning for Jones County came thanks to a walk by Teldrick Ross, a single by Sammy Walton, a sacrifice fly by Seth Daniels, and a double by Hunter Pierce.
Union Grove fired up the offense in the first inning. The first 3 hitters reached base before an out was recorded. Brody Couch singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. The Wolverines would tack on 2 more after passed ball and errant throw got past the catcher.
Garrett Walker pitched the Wolverines to victory. He went one and one-third innings, allowing four runs on five hits and walking zero. Adam Burnett threw five and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Pierce took the loss for Jones County. He lasted three innings, allowing nine hits and seven runs while striking out two and walking one.
Wolverines Varsity had 15 hits in the game. Jake Beach, Jalen Jones, Beau Brand, and Ty Kaufman each racked up multiple hits. Beach went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Wolverines Varsity in hits..
