Two Wolverines Varsity Pitchers Combine To Defeat Hampton In Shutout Game
Wolverines Varsity defeated Hampton 5-0 on Wednesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Adam Burnett struck out Griffin Petty to finish off the game.
Wolverines Varsity put up three runs in the fourth inning. Kyle Ayers and Justin Cook each drove in runs during the inning.
A single by Logan Seehafer in the second inning was a positive for Hampton.
Garrett Walker took the win for Wolverines Varsity. He lasted five and a third innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out five. Burnett threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Kyle Heuchert took the loss for Hampton. He lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out seven and walking zero.
Jake Beach went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Wolverines Varsity in hits. Wolverines Varsity was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error.
