Despite a 5-run deficit in the fifth inning, Union Grove almost came all the way back, eventually falling 9-8 to Pike County on Wednesday. The Wolverines scored five runs in the failed comeback on a error in the fifth, a walk by Canyon Taylor in the sixth, a single by Turner Cook in the sixth, and a groundout by Ryan Hutchinson in the seventh.
Union Grove fell behind early in the loss. Pike County scored on a error in the first inning, a single by Caleb Hammond in the second inning, a groundout by Austin Lee in the second inning, and a stolen base by Trevor Bagwell in the second inning.
