Many thanks to all who attended and participated in our first booster club meeting of the school year on October 8th. Our next one is Nov 12th at 6:30. We had a great turnout with just over 20 UGHS lacrosse families represented. Many ideas were discussed. Everyone’s input is not only appreciated, but vital to the success of our program. Below we’ll share some highlights and other updates.
10/8/18 Booster Club Meeting
Next Booster Club Meeting – Monday, November 12th at 6:30 pm at Union Grove High School. The meeting will be in either the media center or the commons.
Budget – looks like we’re going to need closer to $14,000 than the original $12,000 previously stated. We will present an itemization of costs to be covered at our next meeting. Coaches need to submit their final needs, in order to finalize the budget.
Fundraising – a number of great suggestions, in addition to our sponsorship efforts, were made regarding fundraising. We have some really good ideas to get a jump on the 2019/2020 school year.
Participation – we’ll go into more detail below, but it was made abundantly clear that the individuals on the board cannot possibly get everything done on their own. Your participation is needed on any and all committees described below.
The sponsorship drive is off to a great start! As of this writing we have 8 sponsors committed totaling $2,000. If our goal is now $14,000, we’re 14.285% of the way there with two and a half months to go. Thanks to all! Let’s keep pushing.
We’ve begun researching the possibility of utilizing a website for all things UGHS lacrosse and booster club. Whether it be through the school-sanctioned site or our own, we intend to be using the website as the centerpiece for all information going into the spring season. We have a parent who volunteered to help with this. More to come at our next meeting.
Participation on Committees
As mentioned above and at our last meeting, your participation is vital to the success of our program. Here is a list and brief description of the committees that will require participation from any and all. Sign up sheets will be available at our next booster club meeting.
Business Sponsorships – coordinate and assist with our fundraising efforts.
Field Maintenance – coordinate with coaches on practice and game field conditions and needs; prepare fields for home games; coordinate volunteers for pre-season and post-season cleanup.
Hospitality – plans and coordinates events including end of year banquet, senior night, refreshments for officials during games and hydration/nutrition for players during games.
Press Box – plan and manage all PA announcements during games, run the scoreboard, video, approve all music selections, secures press box before and after games, makes sure the flag is flying and staffs the stats table during games.
Concessions – help with overseeing the inventory needs of concession and making a volunteer schedule to have it covered for all games, working concessions
